EdgeCAM 11.75 provides new 5-axis capabilities and faster operation
An effective CAM system is of critical importance to today's manufacturers who are facing ever-increasing competitive challenges. Version 11.75 expands on its 4 and 5-axis machining capabilities and delivers improved CAD data management, faster graphics and machine programming.
Building on EdgeCAM’s established multi-axis machining strengths, V11.75 adds fast and accurate machine simulation and toolpath generation for both intersecting and non-intersecting axis head/head machining configurations. The latest release enables multi-plane and 5-axis simultaneous milling to be combined in a single process – further speeding programming and reducing manufacturing downtime.
A series of new 5-axis roughing strategies has been added to the system’s operations, further streamlining 5-axis programming. By using an intuitive graphical interface, both new and experienced users can create multiple cut toolpaths for 5-axis swarf, curve, finishing and 4-axis rotary machining in seconds.

New Bar Pull command for Turning operations
New functions enable the sub-spindle to grip the component, reposition and machine it as part of a single cycle. New dynamic imaging allows EdgeCAM users to quickly edit or update existing programs on demand.
Unigraphics® File Loader
The introduction of a Unigraphics® File Loader reinforces EdgeCAM as the standard in intelligent solid based manufacturing. The loader provides true associativity to the native UG model, virtually eliminating the risk of data loss through file translation and ensuring automatic updates to the toolpath for any changes to the original model.
Direct loading of STEP® files
In addition, EdgeCAM 11.75 allows for the direct loading and processing of STEP ® files with toolpath associativity previously only achieved through native solids data.
Faster Programming
EdgeCAM’s continued focus on faster and easier programming is also reflected in performance improvements to the application’s roughing and profiling cycles – enabling the calculation of complex toolpaths to be reduced by as much as 50%.
EdgeCAM Strategy Manager Enhancements
EdgeCAM’s Strategy Manager is an interactive graphical tool that allows the user to capture best practice manufacturing methods and apply them to subsequent jobs, dramatically reducing programming time. User interface enhancements in version 11.75 such as new toolbars and colour coding of nodes make EdgeCAM Strategy Manager even more intuitive and easy to use. Additional tools in version 11.75 allow the user to employ the advanced mathematical functions in strategies.
Seamless CAD integration
The associative link to all major CAD systems is fundamental to EdgeCAM Solid Machinist, which reads native data, avoiding translation problems or potential issues with 3rd party tools. With three new releases each year, EdgeCAM continues to support the latest CAD developments. This is underlined in V11.75, which within days of the launch of Autodesk Inventor® 2008, fully supports the manufacture of parts designed in the latest format.
